I only download HQ mkv, so I don’t have the need to scrap usually badly compressed anime from streaming sites.
What I would like to see is kind of automatic downloader of the new episodes of the shows I watch each week.
Let’s say I bookmark few titles and upon every release I get notice and file downloads.
But as I said quality of the source is most important for me. There is plenty of anime sites I can easily download from. The software that could automatize this process for me would be much appreciated.
Me too. I only download HQ mkv, and everytime there’s the hassle to check every anime I follow if there’re available the new episodes. I can’t check 26 series everytime! So the autodownload every week that Q proposed is a good solution.
(but please, really, not that screwed up quality of such websites. My opinion is, if someone wants to download episodes, is for the appreciation of the series: audio and video are important. If not, he/she would watch them online, if the quality is screwed anyway. But then, it’s just my point of view.)
Anyway, thank you so much for developing such useful apps!
I mostly download form IRC xdcc bots, from channels like #news on irc.rizon.net. Here’s search engine for files served by various bots there – http://news.is-fabulo.us/
Well, for me basically from forums, sometimes from blogs. Aarinfantasy (forum) and AniKat (blog) are the ones from whom I download the most.
And also Nihonomaru Anime Network.
I avoid heavy resolution files and tend to go for more compressed ones (compressed mkv, or rm/rmvb, divx,mp4, avi), since most of the time I’m using computers that can’t handle 720P too well and because the HQ vids take up too much space.
Have you considered any of these sites. I’ve used sites like AnimeCorner, Anime-Sensei, and Zone-anime for dl’s before, but none of them host files from personal servers.

Try uTorrent with RSS filters.
You just need to subscribe to the fansub’s RSS feed and then add filters to uTorrent acording to your preferences.

For this I use mIRC with XDCC Klipper plugin.
I sometimes download from http://www.lolipower.org/
I try to use torrents as little as possible.
For checking if new episode was released I use AniDB.net
